计算机系设有计算机科学与技术一级硕士学位授权点，计算机科学与技术和软件工程两个本科专业和计算机技术工程硕士点，拥有计算机应用研究所、网络中心等科研机构，以及计算机软件实验室、硬件实验室、软件工程实验室，为计算机高素质人才培养提供了强有力的支撑。
现有专职教师48人，其中教授10人，副高职21人，博士生导师6人；教育部新世纪优秀人才1人，北京高校优秀德育工作者1人，北京市教学名师2人，北京市委组织部优秀人才1人，霍英东优秀青年教师1人，校级教学名师6人，校级青年主讲教师5人；北京市优秀教学团队1个。具有博士学位的教师比例达83%，所有教师均具有工程经验。
近年来，计算机系在科学研究上承担了国家“十一五”科技支撑重大项目、863计划、国家自然科学基金、教育部重点基金、北京市自然科学基金、教育部高校骨干教师资助计划项目、教育部留学回国人员启动基金、中石化和中石油等纵向科研项目30余项，同时承担了大量的企事业科研项目；获省部级科技成果奖励多项，其中“基于数据挖掘等技术的乙烯裂解炉在线优化操作”项目获省部级科技进步一等奖，自主开发的高校仪器设备管理系统在全国1037所高校中使用，中央行政事业单位固定资产管理软件在国务院76家直属部委办及其2537家下属单位使用；在国际刊物、国内核心刊物、国际学术会议上发表了200多篇学术论文，出版专著、教材、译著20多部；在本科教学和人才培养上获北京市精品课程2门、北京市高等教育精品教材3部、国家“十二五”规划教材入选3部。计算机系积极开展国际交流，与日本、澳大利亚、新加坡、美国等国家的大学和研究机构保持着密切联系和合作。
The department of computer science and technology offers a master program in computer application techniques, two bachelor programs in software engineering and computer science and technology. The department involves three research organizations: Research Institute of Computer Applications, Computer Network Research Center, Computer Teaching-Lab Center (including computer software lab, hardware lab and software engineering lab) which gives a full support to the education of qualified students in computer science and technology major.
There are 48 full-time teachers, including 10 professors, 21 deputy higher vocational teachers and 6 doctoral supervisors.One New century Outstanding talent of the Ministry of Education, one outstanding moral educator of Beijing universities, two outstanding teaching teachers of Beijing, one outstanding talent of the Organization Department of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, one outstanding Young teacher of Huo Yingdong, six outstanding teaching teachers of the university, and five young lecturer teachers of the university;1 Excellent teaching team in Beijing.The proportion of teachers with a doctorate is 83%, and all teachers have engineering experience.
In recent years, the department of computer science and technology carried out more than 30 scientific research programs, such as national eleventh five-years plan, national 863 projects, national natural science foundation projects, the key science and technology project of the ministry of education, the natural science foundation of Beijing, high learning colleges’ backbones supporting project from the ministry of education, the ministry of education foundation for returnees, and the Sino-Pec and Petro-China scientific research programs. The project of “The data-mining based online optimization technique for the ethylene cracking furnace” has been given the first prize of science and technology achievement in the ministry class. Application software “The university instrument management system” has been used in 1037 universities and colleges and “the fix-assets management software for central administrative institutions” is adopted by 76 ministries and commissions in 2537 affiliated units. More than 200 papers have been published in international/national journals and conferences, the number of monographs, teaching textbooks, and translation manuscripts published is beyond 20. Two lectures were graded as excellent ones and three textbooks were regarded as excellent education materials for high learning in the Beijing district. Moreover, three textbooks have been chosen as national education materials by the Twelve Five-Years Program.
The department of computer science and technology has intensified its international communication and cooperation with universities and research organizations from Japan, Australia, Singapore and USA, etc.
